Tim (who was diagnosed with schizophrenia) was tried twice in 1984. The first trial ended in a hung jury and the second trial ended in his conviction. In 1986, The West Virginia Supreme Court overturned his conviction and entered a judgment of acquittal. Tim was shuffled back and forth between the Monongalia County Jail and Weston State Hospital between 1980 and 1988. In 1988, he was released to his parents. Tim live in obscurity for almost 30 years with his parents in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Earlier this year, Tim slit his father’s throat. This is his story.
